Utility Pole Inspection

We are concerned about your safety standards
Timber poles must be examined regularly for stability and traffic security. There is legislation directing that timber poles must correspond to a high level of safety and guarantee optimal function. 90% of the decayed and rotten areas in timber poles are found below ground level and therefore it was necessary to develop an instrument that would be able to meet these standards.

Pole Inspection with the IML Resistograph!
The IML Resistograph is revolutionizing the utility pole inspection industry. Utility poles require regular inspections to evaluate the quality of the timber and level of wood decay present in determining whether the pole should be replaced. Most pole inspection services use primitive techniques that do not measure or record wood decay. More sophisticated procedures are needed to gather accurate data to assess a pole’s life span.

Using our control instruments to:

Save time and costs with fast measurements
High efficiency due to less work to be done
Lower costs because of less pole replacements
Optimized use of financial and human resources
Prevent unnecessary wood damages. The sawdust remains
in the bore hole while backing out the drilling needle and
almost closes the bore hole fully.
Damaged wood poles can be located in a fast way

For years, the IML Resistograph System (IML-RESI) has been used globally to carry out utility pole inspections. Some of the companies are German ‘Deutsche Telekom AG’, French Telecom, British Telecom, Italian Telecom, Australian Telecoms and American & Canadian Telecoms and Power companies such as Verizon, Embarq, Hydro One, BC Hydro, Manitoba Hydro, Hydro Quebec and others that are currently following in their footsteps.

Pole Inspection below ground
The IML Resistograph provides an exact measurement of the current condition of the inspected utility pole. The instrument is positioned at the base to measure wood decay at ground level.
The inspector then attaches the 45 degree adapter to measure and record the wood density below ground level. With this technology, digging is no longer required and many times, costly reinforcement of the pole is avoided.

The IML Resistograph for Pole Inspection:

Find localized areas of decay in poles quickly
Protect the timber poles over time
Prevent an unnecessary exchange of a timber pole
With the 45 degree adapter attachment, an IML Resistograph
user can locate decay below ground level without digging!
The only way to quantify wood decay, cracks and cavities on
  a 1:1 scale
  Dramatically cuts Replacement costs!
